In the hot days ahead, we will like to drink soft drinks to get rid of the heat. Conventional soft drinks unfortunately contain a lot of added sugar or sweeteners, dyes, preservatives and other additives that no one needs to consume.
We offer you six simple recipes of delicious summer drinks that you can vary, modify and expand to your liking.
5 RECIPES FOR HOMEMADE SOFT DRINKS
1. BLUEBERRY AND MINT SODA
Blueberry harvest time has already begun, so it’s the perfect time for a homemade lemonade with blueberries. If you do not find fresh berries you can use frozen fruits.
Ingredients (for 500 ml of drink):
- 250 grams of fresh (or frozen) blueberries
- 1 handful mint leaves
- 100 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice (approximately 2 to 3 lemons)
- 20 g sugar (or less; if you prefer you can use another sweetener or omit the sweet)
- 300 ml water
Elaboration:
- Put the blueberries, mint, lemon juice (and sugar) in the blender and blend until the mixture is creamy. You can also use a hand mixer.
- Pass the dough through a fine-mesh strainer with the help of a spatula.
- Mix the juice obtained with water. Stir everything vigorously and serve cold.
2. HOMEMADE LEMONADE
Making lemonade is very easy, you will need the following:
Ingredients (for 1 l of lemonade):
- 150 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice (juice of two lemons)
- 1 liter of water
- 50 g sugar (or stevia equivalent)
- 1 pinch salt
- Melissa leaves for garnish
Elaboration:
- First put 500 ml of water with sugar and salt in a saucepan and cook until the sugar has completely dissolved.
- Let cool and then pour the lemon juice and the rest of the (cold) water.
- Add the melissa leaves and store it in the fridge.
3. STRAWBERRY AND MINT SODA
If you want to take advantage of the end of strawberry season, hurry up to prepare this strawberry and mint lemonade.
Ingredients (for 500 ml):
- 500 g strawberries
- 30 g sugar (or stevia)
- 100 ml water
- 200 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice (approximately 3 to 4 lemons)
- 1 handful fresh mint leaves
Elaboration:
- Put the sugar and water in a small saucepan and heat over medium heat. Stir with a whisk until the sugar has dissolved.
- When the mixture starts to boil, remove it from the heat and let it cool for about 10 minutes.
- Put the strawberries and mint in the mixer (a hand mixer is also suitable) and puree until you get a homogeneous mixture.
- Add the lemon juice and syrup until everything is well mixed and serve this homemade soft drink very cold.
For the sugar-free alternative simply omit the sugar syrup. Crush the strawberries with the mint until you get a homogeneous mass, add the lemon juice and 100 ml of water. Leave the lemonade in the fridge, then you can serve it (with ice cubes).
4. HOMEMADE BEET LEMONADE
Beetroot and lemonade, although it may not seem like it, marry very well. Healthy tuber is not only suitable for smoothies, but also for a delicious soft drink like this:
Ingredients (for 500ml of lemonade):
- 100 ml freshly squeezed lemon juice (juice of about 2 lemons)
- 20 g sugar (or less; you can skip it)
- 1 small beetroot
- 500 ml water
Elaboration:
- Finely grate the beetroot.
- Beat lemon juice, sugar, beetroot and 150 ml of water in a blender.
- Press the dough through a fine-mesh strainer, help yourself with a spatula or the back of a spoon.
- Now you can water it, mix everything well and serve the lemonade cold.
5. LIME AND MINT LEMONADE
The basis of this lemonade is a simple mint syrup that you can then dilute in water.
Ingredients (for 500 ml of lemonade):
- 250 ml water
- 20 g sugar
- 200 ml freshly squeezed lime juice (about 5 limes)
- The juice of a lemon
- A handful of fresh mint (preferably from your balcony!)
Elaboration:
- Heat 100 ml of water with the sugar and mint leaves in a small saucepan over medium heat while stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Let it simmer for a few more minutes and then let the mixture cool.
- Remove the mint leaves from the resulting syrup. Mix the syrup, water, lime and lemon juice and store in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
- Stir vigorously before serving, you can add ice cubes, fresh mint leaves and lime slices to decorate.
