Making a polo or sorbet at home is very easy. In summer, which is when cool things are most desired, there are many fruits that are in season and are ideal to prepare it. With these homemade recipes you will avoid the chemical additives, dyes, preservatives, sweeteners and sugars that fill the poles and commercial ice cream.
BASIC RECIPE FOR MAKING POLO SHIRTS OR SORBETS
Ingredients:
- 200 g fresh fruit of your choice
- 150 ml water, juice, tea or infusion
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar (you can substitute xylitol or erythritol) or honey well heaped
- Some fruits to make the appearance more attractive
Elaboration:
- Place the clean fruits in a bowl with the liquid you have chosen and the sugar or honey and crush with an arm mixer at slow speed.
- If you want you can strain the mixture but it is not necessary. Let it sit for an hour, then put it in a mold and freeze it.
PRACTICAL TIPS FOR MAKING POLO SHIRTS OR SORBETS
If when the pole is already done, you do not want to leave the mold, put it briefly in warm water. It will then thaw on the edge and peel off easily.
If you don’t have polo molds on hand, you can use jars or yogurt cups. It is important that the vessel does not narrow towards the opening so that the pole can come out whole easily.
To prevent the glass from breaking when the ice cream expands when freezing, never fill it to the brim, let air in and do not close it with a lid. If the mixture is very liquid, and the stick falls off, let it freeze a little before adding the stick.
PIECES OF FRUITS AND FLOWERS ADD COLOR
If you want to make your polo more attractive, you can add a few pieces of fruit to the dough to be frozen. Or use berries or the diced pulp of any fruit.
You can also use flowers to make your own ice cream, they are very suitable:
- Small rose petals.
- Small daisies or chiribitas.
- Borage flowers, which have an acidic note.
