The aromatic yogi tea, also called yogi tea or yogi chai, transports us with its mixture of flavors to distant countries. You can buy it already made, but you can also prepare the mixture with the ingredients that you like the most.

The popular highly aromatic yogi tea is a tea infusion drink with various spices, the combination of which is based on the Indian holistic healing art of Ayurveda. According to this teaching, several spices support the three vital energies vata, pitta and kapha, which govern the functioning of the organism. Whether you identify with the teachings of Ayurveda and its traditional background or not, this infusion is delicious and brings true well-being to the body and soul.
Instead of buying the drink already prepared in sachets to infuse, it is worth making a good amount of mixture at home to always have it on hand in the cupboard. Making it yourself is very simple and will not only save you money, but you will help avoid unnecessary packaging and you can also give it your personal note.
CLASSIC BLEND FOR YOGI TEA
Classic yogi tea consists of only five basic ingredients. It tastes especially good with a touch of milk or vegetable milk and is also usually tasted slightly sweetened. According to the teachings of Ayurveda, this tea supports the Pitta constitution. To know what your constitution is according to Ayurveda you can read the three typologies of Ayurveda.
Ingredients (for 100 grams of yogi tea):
- 50 g Ceylon cinnamon
- 15 g cardamom capsules
- 15 g dried ginger (you can dry the ginger by cutting it into slices and putting it in the desiccator or buy it already dried)
- 12 g cloves
- 8 g black pepper
Elaboration:
- To prepare the spice mixture of yogi tea, crush all the spices in a mortar or in a grinder (they do not need to be powdered).
- To prepare yogi tea directly into the cup, place 3 to 5 g of the mixture (around a heaped dessert teaspoon) in a cup strainer and add 250 ml of boiling water. Let the mixture stand for eight to ten minutes.
- If you prepare yogi tea in a saucepan, the flavor will develop even better, especially if the spices were not very well crushed. To make it in a pot add 3 to 5 g (a heaped teaspoon) of the spice mixture per cup (approximately 250 ml) and simmer for about 20 minutes. Then pass the liquid through a strainer.
It is best to keep the mixture in a metal can or jar with a screw cap and you should store it in a cool, dry place.
